Save the Fairy Possum

This fairy's tale may be ending

Dear ,

I’m sending you this email because I know you care about Australian nature and wildlife. One of our oldest, smallest and cutest species is under threat and urgently needs your help.

The endangered Fairy Possum has lived in the tallest flowering trees on Earth in the Central Highlands of Victoria for over 20 million years. If we don’t do something now, it will be extinct within our lifetime.

Did you know that the Fairy Possum is the animal emblem of Victoria? We can not let this tiny icon become extinct!

So what’s driving the little Fairy Possum to extinction?

Decades of industrial logging in its habitat has had a devastating effect on its population. Scientists tell us that it needs old-growth trees with hollows to shelter and breed – but due to the excessive rate of native forest logging, these hollow-bearing trees are becoming as rare as the Fairy Possum itself.

Simply put, this is an extinction crisis. Some tough decisions need to be made if the Fairy Possum is going to survive.

Do you agree?

Yours for nature,

Amelia Young
