Welcome to The Wilderness Society and thank you for becoming a Wilderness Defender. Please find your receipt below. At this crucial time, in the face of drought and climate change, you have done a wonderful thing to help ensure the long-term health of our environment, wildlife and future generations.

Protecting and restoring our forests and bushland are guaranteed, immediate and cost-effective ways to reduce dangerous climate change. Because logging and clearing cause massive habitat loss and reduce nature’s ability to produce rain, you are also helping to alleviate drought and save our precious wildlife.

Your ongoing support provides the vital funds needed to plan for the future and ensure the success of our essential campaigns. Right now, you are helping to:

  1. Safeguard the groundwater that supplies farm lands and towns around the beautiful bush of the Pilliga;
  2. Protect the Tarkine forest, Australia’s largest remaining tract of temperate rain forest, from mining;
  3. Tackle the fossil fuel industry head on in an attempt to avoid the worst effects of climate change;
  4. Preserve the unique forests and bushland of Western Australia, including the Great Western Woodlands, an area twice the size of Tasmania known as ‘Australia’s Serengeti’ because of its amazing diversity of life.

These are just a few examples of the varied and essential work that can be carried out across the country thanks to your ongoing support. I look forward to keeping you up-to-date about how your generosity is translating into positive outcomes for our environment and our future.

Yours sincerely,

Lyndon Schneiders
National Director
